Trying new crafts
It somewhat feels like it's been a long time since I last posted however, it's just around a week ago. I'm really going to make an effort now. My brain is constantly bombarding me with ideas and things I want to do. This week has been kinda weird for me. My biological clock is set for 9.30 am for getting up in the mornings now that I've been setting it as my alarm for 2 weeks now. It's a good thing for me as I do laze in bed for a bit before getting up. The reason why I didn't do this before was due to my working hours being an evening shift. So I tend to go to sleep and wake up whenever I wanted to. One day I thought, it would be good to be able to get up in the mornings to get things done rather than trying to fit it in before or during work. When I say get things done i mean the crafty things that requires a bit of time or not so portable kind or not appropriate for taking to work. Anyways, without further a do I'm going to move onto the next segment of this blog. What's on my needles? I've still got the white and beige leaf blasnket on the go as the original size was too small so I've had to add 4 blocks. All of them was knitted whilst at work over 2 days and all on blocking mats. I'll need to wait until they are fully dry before joining them all up as a strip and then onto the remainder of the blanket. Fingers crossed I'll have it completed over the weekend. I've made slight progress in the cockatoo Brae cardigan, I've managed to get all the waist shaping done and now it's plain for 9 more rounds before the bust shaping. So far I've enjoyed knitting it as it's almost mindless for me as it's all in the round so I don't need to worry about purling. Joji mystery KAL is coming along nicely, I decided to get my second piece done for clue 1 and 2 so it feels like I'm following the instructions fully rather than 'cheating' by doing the one piece only. I've not seen any spoilers for clue 3. All I've done is download the clue for me whenever I'm ready for it. Not even a sneak peek at it. I feel like I should cast on a pair of socks to take part in Sockmatician's twisted sock along for the month of June. Surely i should be able to finish a pair in a month however, the pattern I've picked out is an all over cable and ktbl which is the whole purpose of this. Sewing projects I haven't done much this week. I did eventually pull out the little pouches and filled it with dry rice and sew it up to make a few pattern weights. That was satisfying as it's been sitting in my drawers for a very long time. I can't even remember when I did the cutting out and sewing. Today, I've managed to put together a rather simple drawstring bag using 2 fat quarters, interfacing and some co-ordinating fabric for the casing. Oh and some left over ribbon that was hiding in my sewing box. I must say I'm pleased with the outcome as I wasn't sure if it would match nicely once sewn together. The outer fabric has a white background with flamingo print, the casing is in a light blue which is the same as the string. The lining fabric was pink with heart shaped apples also in pink with a hint of blue. To me, it looks rather cute. What's next? I want to try my hand at using clear stamps and colouring them in with watercolour/ink. Which reminds me, I want to make my friend a wedding card. It's next week! I guess I better pull my finger out on this one. Sometimes I think I'm not arty enough to create a card out of nothing. Like I need an image of some sort to see how things go together to make it look beautiful. Pinterest is currently my best friend when it comes to inspiration. I always feel that I've not got enough supplies when I want to try something new. It's time that I learnt to make do with what I have. Who else go out on a shopping spree when they want to try their hand at something else?
